XM1207 Medical Vehicle
The XM1207 / 1208 Medical Vehicle (MV) (German medical vehicle ) was a project of the United States Army . It was part of the Future Combat Systems program . If it had been implemented, it would have become part of the military global information grid . With the termination of the FCS program by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, the project was discontinued.
System description
The system was intended for the treatment and transportation of injured soldiers. It should be unarmed and, since it is based on the Manned Ground Vehicle platform, it should be capable of air transport. Since it was only to be lightly armored, protective measures against anti-tank weapons were provided.
The vehicle was to be built in two variants, "E" for "evacuation" and "T" for "treatment". The former served to transport the wounded out of the immediate combat zone, while the latter enabled further treatment. Both vehicles should offer space for a crew of four and four wounded and enable the use of telemedicine .
