from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The XS-1541 is a device that acts as an adapter to connect historical computer accessories from Commodore with a modern PC via USB or RS-232 (serial interface).

It has both a parallel IEC-625 bus (IEEE-488) and a serial CBM bus and can therefore work together with accessories of both types of equipment. In addition, floppy disk drives with Speed DOS cables and those with burst mode can be connected. The device works in the same way as the X-1541 cable and has a microcontroller . The connected accessories are controlled via a terminal program . The developer encourages interested parties to replicate; he has announced that he will put the device's firmware under an open license.
