X (Australian band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

X was an Australian punk band .

history

X was founded in Sydney in 1977 . The focus of the band was singer and bassist Ian Rilen . Since the band split up and reunited several times, there were several lineups. Of the musicians who played at Rilen's side, guitarist Steve Lucas and drummer Cathy Green are best known, who also played most of the time in the band.

Despite the many changes in the line-up, a central style has emerged. This is mainly characterized by Rilen's loud and powerful bass and Lucas virtuoso guitar playing, which hovers above everything.

Rilen was also known for other projects such as Sardine v and Rose Tattoo . Even at the age of well over 50 he was still on stage and celebrating his rock & roll lifestyle. However, he was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2006 and finally passed away in October 2006.
