Xavier Prats Monné

Xavier Prats Monné (* 1956 in Tarragona ) is a Spanish EU civil servant and has been Director General of the Directorate General for Education and Culture of the European Union since 2014 .

Xavier Prats Monné attended school in Rome. He studied sociology at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid , development aid at the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) in Paris and European studies at the College of Europe in Bruges , graduating there in 1982. There he was subsequently assistant professor.

He then joined the European Commission and worked in various directorates-general. From August 2014 to 2015 he headed the General Directorate for Education and Culture as Director General, then from 2015 until his retirement on September 30, 2018, the General Directorate Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE).
