Xianyou

Xianyou ( Chinese  仙游 县 , Pinyin Xiānyóu Xiàn ) is a district of the prefecture -level city of Putian in the Chinese province of Fujian . The name of the Xianyou district (= "Journey of the Immortals") comes from the fact that, according to legend, the nine brothers of the He family went up into heaven here as carp. The district administration has its seat in the street district Licheng (鲤城 街道), which means something like carp town . Xianyou has an area of ​​1842.1 km² and over 1 million inhabitants (end of 2003).
