Xunta de Galicia

Xunta de Galicia is the Galician name for the government of the Spanish Autonomous Region of Galicia . According to the Galician Statute of Autonomy of April 28, 1981, the Xunta de Galicia consists of the President ( Prime Minister ), possibly a Vice-President and the specialist ministers (Conselleiros). These are each appointed and dismissed by the President.

President of the Xunta de Galicia has been Alberto Núñez Feijóo from the Galician People's Party ( PPdeG ), a regional division of the Spanish People's Party (PP) , since April 2009 . Núñez Feijóo succeeded Emilio Pérez Touriño of the Galician Socialists (Partido Socialista de Galicia, PSdeG), the regional branch of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) in Galicia, who was the political leader of the Autonomous Region from 2005 to 2009.
