Emilio Pérez Touriño
Emilio Pérez Touriño (born August 8, 1948 in A Coruña , Spain ) is a Spanish economist and politician . Pérez Touriño has been chairman (Secretario Xeral) of the Galician Socialists (Partido Socialista de Galicia, PSdeG), the regional branch of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) in Galicia , since October 1997 . On July 29, 2005, he was elected President of the Xunta de Galicia , the government of the Spanish Autonomous Region of Galicia, by the Galician Parliament . He took office on August 2, 2005. On April 16, 2009, he was finally succeeded by Alberto Núñez Feijóo from the PPdeG , the regional division of the Spanish People's Party (PP) in Galicia, as President of the Xunta de Galicia.
