Xylometer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A xylometer (Greek wood knife) is a device used to determine the volume of a piece of wood in forestry . It is based on the Archimedean principle . The xylometer consists of a water-filled overflow vessel that is filled to the outlet. When the pieces of wood are immersed, the displaced water runs into a measuring cylinder with which the volume can be read off.
