Yōzei ( Japanese 陽 成 天皇 , Yōzei-tennō , also Sadaakira ( 貞 明 ); * January 2, 869 , † October 23, 949 ) was the 57th Tennō of Japan . He was the eldest son of the Seiwa -Tennō. He was made heir to the throne at the age of two and ascended to the throne at ten. After only eight years of reign (December 18, 876 to March 4, 884) he abdicated due to illness. As a politician he was unsuccessful. However, he was a well-known poet . One of his poems was included in the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu .
