Yūko Takeuchi ( Japanese 竹 内 結 子 , Takeuchi Yūko ; born April 1, 1980 in Saitama Prefecture , Japan ; † September 27, 2020 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese actress . She became internationally known for her roles in film and television productions such as Ring - Das Original , Be With You and FlashForward .

life and career

Yūko Takeuchi was already at the age of 18 through her role of Tomoko Ōishi in the literary film adaptation by director Hideo Nakata based on the bestseller The Ring by Kōji Suzuki to a star, especially in Japan. She then worked in numerous cinema and television films as well as in several television series in her home country. She was mainly cast in leading or important supporting roles. She played more complex television roles as Noriko Shimura in 2001 in the television miniseries Shiroi kage , furthermore in the television series Pride, where she embodied the character of Aki Murase in 11 episodes in 2004, or in the television series Fukigen na scene 2005, where she played the Part played by Aoi Yoshiko. She was also seen in the 2008 dramatic series Bara no nai hanaya .

As an actress, Takeuchi has won various awards and nominations throughout her career. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 she was nominated three times for the Award of the Japanese Academy for Best Actress. Furthermore, she won the Nikkan Sports Film Awards in her home country and in 2008 the Kinema Junpo Award several times. Between 2009 and 2010 she became internationally known for her role as Keiko Arashida in the American science fiction television series FlashForward .

Yūko Takeuchi was married to actor Shidō Nakamura from 2005 to 2008 . The marriage resulted in a child. Takeuchi was found dead in her apartment on September 27, 2020 . Tokyo's police department assumes a suicide by hanging .
