YARV

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

YARV (Yet another Ruby VM) is a bytecode - interpreter for the programming language Ruby . It was developed by Koichi Sasada and was supposed to become the fastest virtual machine for Ruby in the world. After it replaced the interpreter created by Matz (MRI, Matz's Ruby Interpreter) on December 26, 2007, YARV, also known as KRI (Koichi's Ruby Interpreter), has been the official Ruby interpreter since Ruby version 1.9. Outwardly, nothing about Ruby has changed as a result of the replacement, but many processes work differently internally.
