Yahya Ayyasch

Yahya Ayyasch , also Jehija Ajasch ( Arabic يحيى عبد اللطيف عياش, DMG Yaḥyā ʿAbd al-Laṭīf ʿAiyāš ; pseudonymالمهندس / al-muhandis  / 'the engineer'; * March 6, 1966 in Rafat, West Bank ; † January 5, 1996 in Gaza , Gaza Strip ), was a Palestinian terrorist who was responsible for the deaths of over 50 people and was allegedly killed by the Israeli domestic intelligence service Shin Bet .

Education

After graduating from school in 1985, he began studying electrical engineering at Bir Zait University in 1987 . In 1991 he graduated with a bachelor's degree . He then wanted to do his master’s degree in Jordan , but the Israeli authorities refused to leave him for this purpose. At that time he joined Hamas .

Making bombs for Hamas

Ayyasch made numerous bombs that were detonated in Hamas attacks:

  • April 16, 1993: Car bomb attack on two buses at the Mehola rest area near the Jordan Valley; 2 dead
  • April 6, 1994: Car bomb attack on a bus near Afula: 8 dead
  • April 13, 1994: bomb attack on Hadera - Tel Aviv bus : 5 dead
  • October 19, 1994: Bomb attack on a bus on Dizengoffstrasse in Tel Aviv: 22 dead
  • April 9, 1995: Bomb attack on a bus near Kfar Darom: 8 dead
  • July 24, 1995: Bomb attack on a bus near Ramat Gan : 6 dead
  • August 21, 1995: Bomb attack on a bus near Ramat Eschkol : 5 dead

On January 5, 1996, while on the phone, a cell phone prepared with plastic explosives exploded , which is said to have been leaked to Ayyasch by the Shin Bet secret service .
