The Kinmirai Seiji Kenkyūkai ( Japanese 近 未来 政治 研究 会 , German "Research Council for Policy of the Near Future") is a faction within the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) chaired by Nobuteru Ishihara . It was founded by Taku Yamasaki and was known as the Yamasaki faction ( 山崎 派 , Yamasaki-ha ). With 32 members of the lower house and three members of the upper house , it was (as of October 2007) the fourth largest party in the LDP. It emerged in 1998 as a split from the former faction of Michio Watanabe , the remains of which are now organized in the Shisuikai of Bunmei Ibuki . In 2017 it had 14 members.

In the succession crisis to Prime Minister Shinzō Abe , the Yamasaki faction supported Yasuo Fukuda in the election of the party leader.
