The Yambaru National Park ( Japanese や ん ば る 国立 公園 Yanbaru Kokuritsu Kōen ) is a Japanese national park in the north of the main island of Okinawa . The park was named the 33rd national park on September 15, 2016
Flora and fauna
The park area is in the subtropical climate zone and includes the coastal area around Kapp Hedo in the north. The southern part of the park is covered with mangrove forests. The park area is the habitat of many endemic species such as the Okinawaralle ( Gallirallus okinawae ), the Okinawa woodpecker and the Ryukyu spiny rat .
