Berthold von Pfetten-Arnbach
Karl Berthold Marquard Askan Maximilian Otto Franz Joseph Freiherr von Pfetten-Arnbach (born June 11, 1934 in Regensburg ) is a former German diplomat .
Career
After an apprenticeship at Bayerische Hypobank in 1952/53 , Berthold von Pfetten-Arnbach completed a degree in economics at the University of Munich in 1957 . This was followed by two years as a trainee in Geneva at Bank Darier & Cie . From 1959 he worked for the Foreign Office in Bonn . In 1962 von Pfetten-Arnbach moved to the German Consulate General in Karachi , Pakistan, as second secretary . Again four years later he was in the German Embassy in Uganda Kampala first secretary. In 1969 he became an advisor at the German embassy in Paris before returning to the Foreign Office in 1972.
In 1975 Berthold von Pfetten-Arnbach bought a former farm on the Heuwinkl in Iffeldorf , which is his German residence. In the same year he attended as a Fellow to Harvard University until 1976 in which he German Embassy Washington was working as a consultant. After two years (1978–1980) as an advisor in Jakarta , Indonesia , he returned to the Foreign Office again, where he stayed for ten years as a lecturer in the first class of the Legation . From 1990 to 1995 he was the German ambassador to Thailand , then from 1995 to 1999 in Finland . He then returned to Germany.
From 2001 to 2011 von Pfetten-Arnbach was the district representative of the Malteser Aid Service in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district .
Private
Berthold von Pfetten-Arnbach married Gerty Wilmar on October 24, 1959; they have two daughters.
