Yangjae-dong (양재동) is a neighborhood in Seoul District Seocho . Since 1992 it has been divided into two districts, Yangjae 1-dong and Yangjae 2-dong .

history

The district belonged to Yeondeungpo until 1973 , then to Seongdong until 1975 , to Gangnam until 1987 and since January 1, 1988 to Seocho.

Yangjae Citizens Forest

Yangjae Citizens Forest is a park located near Yangjae Citizens Forest Station and Yangjae Tollgate on Gyeongbu Expressway , the entrance to Seoul City. It was originally laid out as part of preparations for the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Summer Olympics , the facility began in 1983 and was completed in November 1986. The total area is 358,992 square meters.

Well-known elements include the Grass Field, the Octagonal Pavilion and the Pagora (Wisteria Trellis). The park also has sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. There is also the Memorial Hall for the war hero Yun Bonggil and various sculptures for the victims of civilian deaths such as the Korean Air Lines flight 007 or the collapse of the Sampoong building .
