Yashiro coat of arms

The Yashiro ( Japanese 屋 代 氏 ) were an old family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ), which was derived from Murakami no Tamekuni (村上 為 國) and thus from the Murakami Genji .

genealogy

  • Yorikuni (頼 國) settled in Yashiro in Shinano Province (now Nagano Prefecture ) and named himself after the place.
  • Hidemasa (秀 正; 1623) received after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 the domain Hōjō (北 条) with an income of 10,000 Koku and built a permanent house there (陣 屋, Jinya).
  • Tadamasa (忠 正; 1594–1662) was deposed in 1632 and exiled to Takata in the province of Echigo because he had not carefully monitored the Suruga-Dainagon Tadanaga, who was entrusted to him as a prisoner. Tadamasa was pardoned after six years and was able to take possession of his domain again.
  • Tadanori (忠 位), a descendant of Tadamasa, was also deposed in 1712 for poor administration. The Yashiro lost their daimyo status.

Remarks

  1. Suruga-Dainagon was the common name for Tokugawa Tadanaga (徳 川 忠 長; 1605–1633). He was the brother of the Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu , owned u. a. the province of Suruga and carried the title Dainagon (大 納 言). He was deposed because of poor administration and conspiracy plans against his brother, was initially placed under arrest until he had to commit hara-kiri in 1633 .
