yes (originally registered as DBS Satellite Services (1998) Ltd ) was founded in 1998 and is the only satellite television provider in Israel . It started broadcasting in July 2000 under the brand name yes. The largest shareholder is the telecommunications company Bezeq with around 49% of the shares. With the establishment of yes, the Israeli cable television monopoly was broken.
High definition
Yes started broadcasting in high definition on December 23, 2007 . The transmission format is widescreen 16: 9 with resolutions of 1080i50. The broadcast system is DVB-S2 and H.264 / MPEG-4 . The resolution 720p is also supported. Parts of the broadcast content provide audio in 5.1 Dolby Digital . At the moment only 5 channels are offered in HD. These are yes movies HD , yes stars HD , National Geographic Channel HD , MGM HD and Sport 5 HD .
