Ipomoea tyrianthina is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America . According to R. Govaerts, the species Ipomoea orizabensis (G. Pelletan) Ledeb. ex Steud. be called.

description

Ipomoea tyrianthina is an herbaceous climber whose stems are sparsely covered with curved, bristly trichomes or are hairless. The leaves are long stalked , the leaf blades are circular-egg-shaped and 6 to 10 cm long. Suddenly they are pointed at the top and heart-shaped at the base. The leaf margin is entire or, more rarely, three-lobed. The leaf surfaces are thin, fine-bristled or briefly felty.

The inflorescences consist of one to five flowers . The inflorescence stalks are long and slender and often significantly longer than the leaves. The flower stalks are 1 to 4 cm long. The sepals are almost identical, elongated-lanceolate. The outer ones are pointed or rarely blunted, the inner ones pointed and 12 to 15 mm long. The sepals are long tomentose and hairy at the tips, the trichomes often have a thickened base. The inner sepals can, however, also be almost hairless. The crown is pink-purple in color, 6 to 8 cm long and hairless.

distribution

The species is common in Guatemala , Mexico and Honduras . It is believed that it grows in moist thickets at altitudes from 1600 to 3800 m.
