Yin yoga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yin Yoga is a quiet, passive style of yoga that is mostly practiced lying down and sitting.

origin

Yin Yoga was developed by Paulie Zink in the mid-1980s from a synthesis of Hatha Yoga and Tao Yoga. His student Paul Grilley and his student Sarah Powers developed the style further. Yin Yoga is often equated with the yoga of Paulie Zink, Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers and today it stands for the gentle form of yoga.

construction

In Yin Yoga, the asanas are held for between three and seven minutes. In between there is a harmonization while lying down. While all unneeded muscles are released during the exercises, you have time to transition into a calm, meditation-like state. Yin Yoga intends to “tear open” deep-lying connective tissue , the so-called fascia tissue, to stretch muscles , ligaments and tendons and thus to increase the freedom of movement of the body parts to one another.
