Yoga mats are special mats on which yoga is practiced.

properties

They usually slide less than exercise mats . Yoga mats made of rubber , jute , natural wool , cotton or other materials are available in specialist shops . They are usually 60 cm wide and 180 to 200 cm long.

Historical

In ancient India , natural materials such as coconut fibers , jute or sisal were used, as well as animal skins from deer or tigers. In Europe, towels were initially used on carpets or cotton mats with rubber mats underneath to prevent them from sliding on wooden floors. The first non-slip yoga mats in Germany were developed by Frieder Bausinger in 1976; they were virgin wool mats with a non-slip latex coating on the underside.
