York Mills is an underground subway station in Toronto . It lies on the Yonge-University line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of Yonge Street and Wilson Avenue / York Mills Road. The station has a central platform and is used by an average of 28,150 passengers every day (2015).

There are transfer options to nine bus routes that run from an underground bus station . In addition, there is a park-and-ride with 260 parking spaces for commuters . Immediately south of the station, the route crosses under the western arm of the Don River . Originally it was planned to build the station above ground and to cross the river by means of a bridge. However, protests from local residents forced an underground tour.

The station opened on March 31, 1973, along with the Eglinton - York Mills section. The northern terminus was here for almost a year, until the opening of the section to Finch on March 30, 1974. The entire route from Eglinton to Finch should have been opened in 1973, but strikes made it necessary to stagger it. Since 2010, the Breaking Ground mural designed by Laurie Swim has been a reminder of an accident fifty years earlier during the construction of a nearby water pipeline, in which five Italian workers were killed.
