Young Austrian Engineers Contest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Young Austrian Engineers CAD Contest , or YAEC for short , is a joint design competition for all Austrian mechanical engineering and mechatronics HTLs . All students from an HTL or a technical college with a construction from the current school year are eligible to participate. After the projects have been submitted electronically, they are assessed by a jury made up of HTL professors and evaluated according to previously published criteria. The award winners of the award-winning projects will be presented with the certificates and prizes at a public award ceremony.

Emergence

The origin of the competition goes back to an initiative of Wolfgang Pachatz, employee of the then Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture, now Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and Women . Until 2009, the various HTLs held a competition depending on the CAD program. The aim of a joint competition, in which construction work with all CAD programs is permitted, was overall more attractive prizes for the award winners and increased media coverage.

Framework

Submissions can be made in three categories, whereby the school award goes to the school that receives the most award-winning submissions. For group submissions, the maximum size is five participants.

At the award ceremony, the prizes are presented to the winners by well-known people from the business world, mostly technical managers or managing directors with responsibility for technology. The event is always photographed by students from a technical college, and a film is produced that is published on YouTube.
