Young the Giant is an American indie rock band from Irvine , California . Her two singles My Body and Cough Syrup reached the top 5 on the US alternative charts.
history
Jacob Tilley, Adam Farmer, Kevin Massoudi, Ehson Hashemian, and Sameer Gadhia formed The Jakes in 2004 . The name is an acronym of her five first names. From 2004 to 2008, Eric Cannata, François Comtois and Jason Burger were added while Massoudi and Farmer left. While they were still attending various high schools and colleges , they recorded their first EP called Shake My Hand with producer Ian Kirkpatrick ( Neon Trees , Plain White T’s ) and paused their respective training to concentrate on the music. Shortly before they signed with Roadrunner Records in 2009 , keyboardist Ehson Hashemian left the band. In December of the same year, they announced the renaming to Young the Giant.
