The Yulong Xueshan ( Chinese 玉龍 雪山 / 玉龙 雪山 , Pinyin Yùlóng Xuěshān - " Jade Dragon Snow Mountains ") is a mountain range not far from Lijiang in the northwest of the Yunnan Province in the People's Republic of China .
The highest peak is the 5596 m high Shanzidou ( Chinese 扇子 陡 , Pinyin Shànzidǒu ). One side of the massif forms one edge of the Tiger Jump Gorge (虎跳峽 / 虎跳峡).
The Shanzidou has only been climbed once on May 8, 1987 by an American expedition.
