Zurich Vielliebchen waltz

The Zurich Vielliebchen Waltz is one of the few piano pieces by Richard Wagner .

Emergence

Wagner composed the piece in 1854 during his stay in Zurich for several years . It was created on the occasion of a visit by Marie Luckemeyer (1838–1872), the sister of Wagner's friend Mathilde Wesendonck . Wagner composed the short romantic piece for them, which in its way is somewhat reminiscent of Schubert's Moments musicaux . The waltz was probably published in 1902.

The waltz is written in E flat major and has 34 bars . The playing time is around one and a half minutes, depending on the speed. As a note, Wagner wrote under the title: "As funny as possible, but with passionate decency". The piece bears the work number WWV 88.
