Z position

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Z-position or make z is in the Deutsche Bahn and its predecessor companies seconding currently unused railroad cars called. There are two types of Z-positions:

  1. Postponed from repair : This means that the parked vehicle will not receive any maintenance work or general inspections for the time being . On the other hand, it must not be cannibalized or deliberately made technically unfit to drive. It must also be able to be made ready for use again. In particular, it should be noted here that a vehicle is only temporarily parked because it is not currently needed (for example, in freight transport during an economic crisis) or because there are currently no means for refurbishing (which affects many museum locomotives) with the aim of returning it to service later.
  2. Deferred for dismantling : Vehicles that are z-placed with this title are as good as scrapped. All parts can be removed here, and these vehicles usually end up on abandoned sidings , which only represent a temporary bridge before scrapping takes place.
