ZACK album
ZACK Album was an album series in the context of the comic magazine ZACK , which appeared from January 1974 to November 1977 like the ZACK magazine by Koralle-Verlag .
Edition history
This album series, which is sold through the magazine trade, has a somewhat curious edition history: After the first seven volumes of the first seven volumes with Lucky Luke had appeared in the first ZACK album series, the ZACK Comic Box , it was decided to to outsource this series, because the comic box should conceptually present a colorful mix of series in line with ZACK's mixed characters principle . From January 1974, Lucky Luke was published as a separate edition from Volume 4, with the ZACK comic boxes 3, 5 and 7 subsequently being rated as Lucky Luke 1–3. When it became foreseeable that Koralle would hold the rights to Lucky Lukewould lose, one changed the appearance of the last volumes, in which the signet ZACK album was added from the eleventh volume. So then the Lucky Luke volumes 12-14 appeared as ZACK album 12-14 (volume 11 is designed so that it is still undecided whether the numbering refers to the series or series title). While Ehapa Verlag , which received the German license to publish the Lucky Luke albums, took over the Koralle numbering and started its edition with volume 15, Koralle continued the ZACK Album series with other series. Volumes by Luc Orient , Umpah-Pah , Rick Master and Lieutenant Blueberry were published there (also numbered from 15) . So the concept of the series no longer differed from that of the ZACK Comic Box, which was continued in parallel (now shortened to ZACK Box ).
At the end of the 1970s, Koralle then increasingly switched to releasing some series in the form of independent album editions (like Lucky Luke before , but there were also short-lived album series from e.g. Raumschiff Enterprise and Caine ), including Rick Master and Blueberry , in which the volumes previously published in the album series were counted retrospectively from volume 1 (so Rick Master started with volume 2, Blueberry with 3). But since the ZACK Box continued to appear, the redundancy of a second mixed series album series became even more obvious and so the ZACK album with volume 20 was consequently discontinued in November 1977.
