The toothbrush tablet is a hygiene product for the mouth and teeth that is available in dry form. Like conventional toothpaste , a toothpaste tablet is used to remove plaque, i.e. for dental prophylaxis .

application

One toothbrush tablet is chewed before brushing your teeth so that foam is created. Now it can be cleaned with a toothbrush. While chewing, the teeth are already cleaned and deposits are removed. After brushing, the mouth is rinsed out.

The main component of a toothbrush tablet is cellulose ( microcrystalline cellulose ). This ensures that the teeth are polished smooth. Furthermore, sodium hydrogen carbonate ( sodium bicarbonate ) is used, as it also removes dental plaque and thus serves oral care. It also affects the pH of the saliva. Silicon dioxide ( silica ) also removes plaque and absorbs finely divided substances. Surfactants such as Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate are responsible for foam formation. Menthol ensures fresh breath and sodium fluoride ( sodium fluoride ) prevents the development of tooth decay.

Compared to toothpaste, toothbrush tablets have several advantages, they are:

  • much longer shelf life,
  • free from preservatives and
  • Environmentally friendly packed without plastic tube.
  • Due to the solid form, not only can plastic packaging be dispensed with, but also emulsifiers , humectants , consistency enhancers and preservatives .
