Zainab Haidary

Zainab Haidary (* 1990 in Daikondi ) is an Afghan artist.

life and work

Zainab Haidary graduated from Marefat High School in Kabul in 2009 and completed a bachelor's degree in painting at the University of Kabul . She studies at the Bremen University of the Arts

Haidary took part in the high school project Being ›We the People‹ , which was presented in 2010 at the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia, and the National Museum in Kabul . Her work was shown in the 2010 exhibition 'The Haunted Lotus: Contemporary Art from Kabul' at The Cross Art Projects, Sydney. In 2012 Haidary participated in dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel and Afghanistan. In the book that accompanies the documenta, her work is commented on as follows:

"In her paintings and photographs, Zainab Haidary [...] analyzes the changing relationship between armed conflict and aid and sets inner emotions in motion through an often intimate perspective on the reality of everyday life ."
