Zakea Dolphin Mangoaela

Zakea Dolphin Mangoaela (born February 1883 in Hohobeng , Cape Province , South Africa , † October 25, 1963 ) was a South African-Lesothic author and folklorist .

Mangoaela was born not far from the border to what was then Basutoland, later Lesotho , and grew up in Basutoland, where he attended the Basutoland Training College . He is considered to be one of the first authors of South African literature. His best known work is Lithoko tsa Marena a Basotho (German: Praise of the chiefs of the Basotho).
