Zambia Alliance for Progress

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zambian Alliance for Progress (ZAP) is a political coalition and an electoral alliance of various parties in Zambia .

history

The Zambian Alliance for Progress was created in 1999 through the merger of the Zambia Democratic Congress , Agenda for Zambia , National Citizens' Coalition , National Party , Lima Party and Labor Party . In 2001 it also took up the Zambia Republican Party , which in turn had emerged the year before from the merger of the National Lima Party, founded in 1996, and the Zambia Republican Party . The reason given for the merger was the lack of opportunities for small parties to face the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy in elections. Indeed, the majority vote common in Zambia favors the representatives of large parties. The chairman of the ZAP was Dean Mung'omba until his death on April 19, 2005 .
