Zdena Frýbová

Zdena Frýbová (born September 30, 1934 in Prague ; † February 22, 2010 ibid), pseudonym Zdena Redlová , was a Czech writer and journalist.

Works

She was one of those writers who addressed the problems of real socialism - including controversial censorship issues - in a non-political way in their works. Most of their stories took place in the medical and scientific context.

In Příběh z lékárny (An incident in the pharmacy, 1965) she analyzed the causes of a marital crisis. In Z neznámých důvodů (For Unknown Reasons), she humorously described a research institute and the problems faced by employees. In Robin , she also described the upbringing of a dog in a humorous way and gave the dog a human voice.

After November 1989 she started writing politically. She was left-wing, but believed that most of it was done wrong. She did not mourn communism , but sought a third way. In addition to Mafie po česku (Mafia, Czech, 1990) and Mafie po listopadu (Mafia after November, 1992), the continuation of the novel Robin followed , in which the dog commented on the political situation.
