The Joseph II colliery is a former hard coal mine in Essen-Kupferdreh . The small mine was only in operation for five years. During this short period of operation, the owner changed twice.

history

On January 1st, 1952, the Joseph II mine in Deipenbecktal was put into operation. The first owner was the Nöckersberg company. On March 1st of the same year the company Gebrüder Köttgen & Co took over the mine. The first known production and workforce figures come from 1954, when 18 miners produced 2694 tons of hard coal . On August 1, 1955, the owner changed again, this time the company Fischer & Morain oHG took over the management of the mine. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine also come from this year - 1154 tons of hard coal were extracted with 20 miners. On December 28, 1957, the Joseph II mine was shut down. The pits were filled in the following year .
