history

The years as a pulpit

On March 24th and September 30th, 1855, the mines Nettelauge, Schmachtenberg and Vermählung consolidated into the Zeche Kanzel. In the following year the new mine was mentioned in the documents, but no dismantling took place. There is evidence that mining began in 1857. In 1858, 27 miners were employed at the mine. Mining continued in 1860, but exact figures are not given. In the following year, nine miners extracted 7,054 Prussian tons of hard coal . The mine was operational in 1863, but the exact activities are not known. The mine was initially still in operation in 1865, but it was shut down in the course of the year. In 1921 the mine was put back into operation under the name Zeche Die Kanzel .

the pulpit

In 1919 the mine was in operation for a short time. In September 1921 it was restarted. This year there were two tunnels and a start was made to sink a test shaft . With six miners 570 tons of hard coal were mined. The following year, eleven miners were already working at the Die Kanzel colliery, but there was no dismantling. In mid-August 1923, the production was stopped and on October 1 of the same year the mine was closed. At the beginning of 1925 the mine was put into operation again at short notice. However, this commissioning was unsuccessful. On July 1, 1951, the Die Kanzel colliery was put into operation again. The owner was the mining company Die Kanzel mbH , whose owner was G. Hellwig. The mine was located on Ruhrtalstrasse. With 36 miners 1833 tons of hard coal were extracted. The Kanzel colliery was finally shut down on September 30, 1952.
