The Kleine Hamburg & Friedrich colliery in Annen is a former hard coal mine . The mine was also known under the name Zeche Kleine Hamburg or Zeche Kleinehamburg modo Morgenstern near Witten . Despite its more than a hundred year history, little is reported about the mine.

Mining history

In 1788 a length field was measured . In 1800 the Friedrich field , which was awarded in 1789 , consolidated with the Kleine Hamburg field. On July 22nd, 1837, the Kleine Hamburg colliery, consisting of two length fields, was awarded. In 1850 the deposit from the United Hamburg & Vollmond colliery was opened up. The Kleine Hamburg & Friedrich colliery was in operation at the time, but did not have its own shaft . In the years 1860 and 1865 the mine was demonstrably in operation. In 1894, the Kleine Hamburg & Friedrich colliery consolidated into the United Hamburg colliery.
