The North Pole colliery in the Linden district of Bochum is a former hard coal mine . The mine was a small coal mine and consisted of the operating regions North Pole 1 and Pole 2. owner of the tunnel was initially Ewald Dahlmann, later took over Paul Dahlmann the mine.

Mining history

On January 1, 1948, the first part of the business on Wuppertaler Strasse went into operation. This year nine miners extracted 455 tons of hard coal . In 1950, 20 miners extracted 4,178 tons of hard coal. On September 25th of that year, the North Pole 2 operating section on Surenfeldstrasse went into operation. In the following year, 24 miners extracted 4,841 tons of hard coal. The maximum extraction was achieved in 1957 by 34 miners, it amounted to 9,465 tons of hard coal. In 1958, North Pole 2 was in operation. In 1960, 6051 tons of hard coal were extracted by 22 miners. In 1964, nine miners extracted 2574 tons of hard coal. On February 26, 1965, the mine ceased operations. The North Pole colliery was shut down on March 31 of the same year.
