The lubricant mine in Essen-Überruhr -Holthausen is a former hard coal mine . The mine was located in the area east of today's Mühlenweg.

Mining history

The mine was already registered on the Niemeyer's map in 1794 . The first mining activities of the mine are known from 1802. This year, 60 were day Ringel coal promoted. In 1803 an operating community was formed with the Schockenbank mine. The name of this joint venture was Zeche Schmierfuß & Schökenbank. The purpose of this joint venture was the joint dismantling. In 1804 a cross passage to the Schockenbank colliery was driven. In 1806, joint mining was initially carried out. In September of the same year, the joint venture was dissolved again. In 1809, shaft 9 was mined. In 1811 an experimental shaft was in operation. From June of the same year the mine was no longer mentioned in the documents. In the period from December 1 to December 2, 1831 , the Schmierfuß colliery consolidated with other mines to form the United Himmelsfürster Erbstollen colliery .
