The Zeitschrift für Religions- und Geistesgeschichte (ZRGG) is a scientific journal founded in 1948 by Hans-Joachim Schoeps and Ernst Benz , which since then has dedicated itself to the presentation and publication of scientific research results on religious , intellectual and cultural history . It is a forum for interdisciplinary research and exchange among scholars without restriction to a specific period of time or to a specific scientific method.

The magazine is published quarterly (with a few exceptions in the first few years) by Brill Academic Publishers in Leiden. The contributions were initially only published in German, but now (to a small extent) also in English. It is currently being edited by Joachim H. Knoll (Bochum), Julius H. Schoeps (Potsdam, managing director), Hans J. Hillerbrand (Durham, USA), Helmut Peitsch (Potsdam) and Almut-Barbara Renger (Berlin). Julius H. Schoeps, Gideon Botsch and Thomas Gerber are responsible for editing .

In 1958, Hans-Joachim Schoeps founded the Society for Intellectual History, which pursued similar goals .
