The journal for antiquity was published from 1834 to 1857 in two series. The first nine years 1834–1842 were published by the founder Ludwig Christian Zimmermann (1834–1838), Karl Zimmermann (1839–1841), Friedrich Zimmermann (1840–1842) and Maximilian Fuhr (1842). From 1840 to 1842 the Gymnasial-Zeitung was a weekly supplement . Supplement to the journal for antiquity included. The new series with 15 years (1843-1857) was published by Theodor Bergk (1843-1852) and Carl Julius Caesar (1843-1857).
