The station Altglienicke is a station of the S-Bahn in the district Altglienicke in the district of Treptow-Koepenick . It was opened in 1962 for the S-Bahn. A depot on the outer freight ring had existed at this point since 1940 , which was also used for passenger traffic between 1948 and 1958 after the Second World War.
location
The train station is located in the Altglienicke district in the Treptow-Köpenick district . Berlin city center is around 18 km as the crow flies to the north-west, the city limits around 2 km south. The federal highway 96a , which is also called Am Seegraben , runs right next to the train station . The Adlershof station is located approximately 3.8 km to the north, the Grünbergallee approximately 1.4 km south. The station belongs to the Berlin B tariff area of the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association .
history
On January 1, 1940, the station was initially opened as a pure depot on the outer freight ring. There was no passenger traffic here until 1948. A stop was only opened on July 26th. This was initially in operation until March 21, 1951. The second operating period began on May 22, 1955 and ended on June 1, 1958.
Since 1959 it was planned to open a S-Bahn line towards Berlin-Schönefeld Airport . Since a motorway junction was planned near the train station, the route south of the train station runs in a slight curve to the left of the motorway section. On February 26, 1962, the new station on the route to the airport went into operation. The roofless central platform had a small reception building with ticket issuance.
Previously, the section was only single-track, the second track was not put into operation until June 29, 1987, after some renovation work.
Today the train station has received the guidance system for the blind and is barrier-free accessible via an elevator. The station only has an exit at the northern end.
