Railway stations in Berlin |
The Berlin Pichelsberg station is a station of the S-Bahn in Berlin district of Westend . It is located between the Olympiastadion and Stresow train stations .
On September 5, 1911, the Pichelsberg station of the Spandau suburban railway was opened. The government master builder Lücking carried out the construction according to plans by Ernst Schwartz . Since the line was electrified in 1928, there has been regular S-Bahn service. On the occasion of the 1936 Summer Olympics , there were major renovations based on plans by Fritz Hane , with a second entrance at the western end of the Waldbühne . The station building, which was badly damaged in the Second World War , was then used for a few years in a poorly repaired state of ruin. After the S-Bahn strike in 1980, the line and the station were closed. The station was reopened on January 16, 1998 with a newly built entrance. Two more entrances were added later on the north-west side, the northern branch of which connects the train station with Glockenturmstrasse and has served as access to the ice rink there since 2012. The footpaths to the bell tower, to the Berlin Olympiapark, to the Waldbühne and to the Horst Korber sports center remain shorter overall via the southeast exit on Schirwindter Allee.
Connection
The S-Bahn station is served by the S3 and S9 lines of the Berlin S-Bahn. It is not possible to change to other local public transport lines .
