The Central Post and Telecommunications Office of the GDR , abbreviated to ZPF , until 1979 Central Post Office (ZPA), was the central office of the Deutsche Post of the GDR , based in the former main telegraph office in Berlin . It was founded on January 1, 1973 and was directly subordinate to the Ministry for Post and Telecommunications of the GDR . ZPA and ZPF had the postal code 1085.

tasks

The ZPF was responsible for the management of postal operations and mail transport and the accounting of postal and telecommunications traffic with other countries, as well as the publication of postal printed matter, including telephone books , post code directories and postage fee books . It also undertook the advertisement for philatelic products of the Deutsche Post of the GDR as well as the dispatch of postage stamps for collecting purposes.

The ZPF also had special postmarks on the occasion of the new issues of postage stamps by the GDR Deutsche Post.
