As a center-fire was of some astronomers the Pythagorean designated (520 v. Chr.) A suspected central body in the center of the universe. It is orbited by the earth , the sun and all planets .

100 years later, Philolaos also postulated a counter-earth so that symmetry would be established and the heavenly bodies would reach the sacred number 10.

The idea that the sun was in the center was only introduced in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. Represented by Herakleides Ponticos and Aristarchus of Samos .
