Central institute for statutory health care in the Federal Republic of Germany

The Central Institute for Statutory Health Insurance in the Federal Republic of Germany (Zi) is a research institute founded on August 1, 1973 in the legal form of a foundation under civil law with its seat in Berlin. The foundation is supported by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians .

Organs of the foundation

Organs of the foundation are:

  • Board of Trustees (consisting of the chairman of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the chairman of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians)
  • Board of Directors (Chairman: Dominik Graf von Stillfried / Deputy Chairman: Thomas Czihal)

Tasks of the central institute

The tasks of the central institute are to conduct research and science as well as basic, advanced and advanced training in the field of medical care using all scientific, empirical, technical and otherwise accessible methods. The central institute has two focal points:

  • Everyday work and general conditions of the resident doctors
  • Health services research

It is divided into six departments:

The central institute promotes research projects by third parties that can contribute to the quality and assurance of statutory medical care with a fund for project funding of 250,000 euros.

In addition, the central institute annually awards the “Regionalized Health Services Research” science award endowed with EUR 7,500.
