The Central Moor Commission , Commission for Moor Matters , Central Moor Commission , Central Moor Commission or just briefly Moor Commission was an advisory body of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Prussian central authority based in Berlin .

history

Karl Rudolf Friedenthal founded the commission in 1876. Its purpose was the collection, appraisal and promotion of all measures pertaining to the peatland in order to better cultivate and use peatlands . In connection with and under their supervision, the moor experimental station was built in Bremen in 1877 .

By the rules of procedure of February 17, 1893 issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, its activities were extended to the promotion of efforts aimed at improving the cultivation of the light sandy soil. The chairman and members were each appointed by the minister for three years. From 1895 the state of Oldenburg was represented by its own member.
