The Central Post Office Kaunas (lit. Kauno centrinis paštas ) is a post office building in the Lithuanian second largest city Kaunas . It is a particularly important symbol of the national architecture of modernism . The construction goes back to the year 1930 (500th year of death of Vytautas Magnus ). The project author and architect was Lithuanian Feliksas Vizbaras . The cost of construction was over 1.5 million Litas , and another 250,000 Lt for decorations and equipment for the building. From 1978 to 1980 the upper windows of the hall were glazed with stained glass, the walls were covered with veneered dolomite panels and some of the office rooms were redesigned.
