Zeus (bicycle manufacturer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zeus was a Basque bicycle manufacturer from Eibar .

Zeus was founded in Eibar in 1926 by Luis Arregui. A special feature was that Zeus manufactured all attachments himself. "Zeus was the only manufacturer in recent times who produced all parts ( frames and components ) itself." (Richard Hallett)

In the 1960s, the design and dimensions were based on French component manufacturers, and in the 1970s and 1980s, they were based on the designs of the Italian competitor Campagnolo . At his death, Luis Arregui held 105 patents in various areas of bicycle technology.

The brand disappeared in the 1980s due to the tougher conditions on the bicycle market, but is now partially used again for the in-house attachments of the bicycle manufacturer Orbea .
