Zhang Zeduan
Zhang Zeduan ( Chinese 張擇端 / 张择端 , Pinyin Zhāng Zéduān , W.-G. Chang Tse-tuan , court name : 正道 , Zhèng Dào ; * 11th century in Dongwu ; † 12th century ) was a Chinese painter of the Song Dynasty .
Zhang Zeduan was probably a court painter during the Northern Song Period and was critical of the Southern Song Period. Little that is known about Zhang Zeduan comes from colophons in his pictures, which a certain Zhang Zhu wrote in 1186.
The most famous painting by Zhang Zeduan is the so-called Qingming scroll , which depicts scenes in the Song capital, Bianliang ( 汴梁 , Biànliáng , today: Kaifeng ).
