Zhongshan Dao ( Chinese 中山 島 / 中山 岛 , Pinyin Zhōngshān Dǎo or 香山 島 / 香山 岛 , Xiāngshān Dǎo , also Macau Island ) is an island in Guangdong Province in the People's Republic of China . In 2002 about 2,275,000 people lived there.
Administratively, the island belongs to the cities of Zhuhai ( Xiangzhou district ) and Zhongshan as well as to the Macau Special Administrative Region .
